In the midst of
litter encrusted kitten paws,
multi-colored fuzz sticking to every piece of fabric,
dog eared catalogs in stacks,
to-do lists half completed
and wet from a sticky sweet cup of black tea (knocked over by a wayward dog tail),
a Christmas tree sad and lonely and empty
in the corner

There's a little bit of peace.
